Une acétylation du Bois de Cèdre Virginie HE peut permettre de récupérer de l'Acétate de Cédryle hémisynthétique. Il est synthétisé à partir de Cédrol, parfois naturel, issu de Bois de Cèdre Virginie HE, par une réaction d'estérification en milieu acide.

Précurseurs de synthèse :

L'Acétate de Cédryle n'est pas précurseur de la synthèse d'un autre composé d'intérêt olfactif.

Isoméries :

L'Acétate de Cédryle possède divers carbones asymétriques, lui offrant un pouvoir rotatoire positif ou négatif selon les configurations. L'Acétate de Cédryle utilisé en parfumerie est un mélange d'isomères. L'Acétate de Cédryle est par ailleurs un isomère de constitution de l'Acétate de Gaiyle. Tous deux n'ont cependant pas la même odeur.

Présence dans la nature :

L'Acétate de Cédryle peut être trouvé dans le Bois de Cèdre Chine HE en faible proportion, cela permet de l'extraire à l'état naturel. Il n'est cependant pas présent dans les autres variétés de cèdre.

L'Acétate de Cédryle est utilisé dans des notes ambrées, conifères, boisées, épicées pour les parfums masculins, dans des notes irisées et violette pour les féminins. Utilisé aussi dans des notes cuirées.
